Muktinath is both the Buddhists' and the Hindus' famed pilgrimage place. Muktinath is the holy location of salvation for Hindus. There is a myth that bathing in the water of the Muktinath temple assures salvation after death. The Hindu god, Brahma, is claimed to have enlightened the eternal Muktinath fires. This place is a venue for Buddhists to focus on Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), a famous scholar who brought Buddhism to Tibet. In the lower regions of Kali Gandaki, around Jomsom and Muktinath upwards in Mustang, this part of Nepal is populated by Tibetans with solid roots and Thakalis.
