Arrival at Kathmandu airport,
pick up by our correspondent and transfer to the hotel. (At the foot of the
Himalayas, where they assure that their gods live, Nepal stands, a land of
spectacular landscapes, temples and cities with a rich cultural heritage. These
seem to transfer the traveler to medieval times on their walks through
KATHMANDU, BHAKTAPUR and PATAN, the three urban cities that represent the
backbone of the country. Stay overnight at hotel.
We will get visit the different places which are listed in
UNESCO World Heritage Site: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swoyambhunath, Boudhanath
and Pashupatinath today. Stay overnight at hotel.
Kathmandu Durbar Square: (World Heritage Site): Kathmandu
Durbar square is one of the popular place which is liked by many visitors due
to its exquisite architecture and artistic embellishment. It consists of Huge
Royal Palace with different temples dating back from the 15th to the
18th century. The house of the living goddess, the ferocious Kal Bhairav,
the red monkey god, the Hanumandhokha palace, the Ashok Binayak temple,
Kasthamandap, the Temple Taleju and hundreds of erotic carvings are some few
examples of the sights at the square. All woodcarvings, statues and
architecture in this area are exceptionally fine.
Swoyambhunath: Swoyambhunath is one
of the most glorious Buddhist stupa. It is said to be 2000 years old.
Swoyambhunath is, perhaps, the best place to observe the religious harmony in
Nepal. The stupa is among the most ancient in this part of the world and its
worshippers are diverse from Newar nuns, Tibetan monks and Brahman Priests to
lay Buddhist and Hindus. Swoyambhunath provides an excellent view of the
Kathmandu valley.
Bouddhanth: Boudhhanath stupa is one of the
largest Buddhist stupa in the world. The Stupa 100 meters in diameter, was
built on an octagonal base inset with prayer wheels by the Lichchivi King Mana
Deva in the 15th century. The pinnacle of this stupa represent the
stages of enlightenment, symbol of royalty, compassion, knowing and nirvana.
There are many myths about the origins of the Stupa. Early morning and evening
are the times to visit Bouddha to join the local residents in Kora. There is an
enclosure with several monasteries of the different schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
Pashupatinath: Pashupatinath
is one of the most sacred temples in Nepal. The temple of Pashupatinath is a
large double roofed pagoda of brass and gilt gold; the gateway is plated with
silver. There are linga images of Shiva along with statues, shrines and temples
dedicated to other deities in the temple complex. There are rows of Shiva
shrines and Hindu pilgrims from all over South Asia offering worship to Shiva,
the Lord of Destruction. Entrance to the temple precinct is permitted to the
Hindus only. However, visitors can clearly see the temple and the activities
performed in the temple premises from the vantage point across the bank of the
Bagmati River.
After breakfast we will head towards Lama
Hotel (9 km) which takes about 6/7 hours of walk. At first we have to walk in
the road way from Syabrubesi to Domen. After there we walk along the Langtang
River and reach Pahiro on the way. After having lunch there we will head
towards Bamboo through the forest way. On the way we can see many wild animals
& birds like langur monkeys, red pandas (rare breed), and warthogs.
Himalayan bear, King Fishers and so on. From Bamboo we cross the steel bridge
and walk through the jungle and reach Lama Hotel. Stay overnight in lodge.
After breakfast we head towards Langtang
valley which takes about 6/7 hours. We ascend through the jungle trials along
the side of the Langtang River. We pass through the Riverside where there are
two lodges and we can see the yaks and cows on the way. Then after ascending
towards we pass through Ghoda Tabela, Thyangsyap and Langtang Gompa to reach
Langtang. As the valley opens
up we can see yak pasture areas, peanut walls and scattered Tamang villages are
crossed up to the large settlement of Langtang at 3,500 meters which is the
administrative center of Langtang National Park. We can see the Langtang valley
before earthquake on the side of new Langtang valley. Stay overnight in lodge.
After breakfast we head towards our
ultimate destination, Kyanjin Gompa which takes about 3/4 hours. We have to
walk through the uphill and some straight trials along the way. We pass through
the village like Mundu where we can see the habitats of Tamang village and the
road climbs to a ridge dominated by a square-shaped “chorten” and a long row of
“peanut walls”. On the way we can see Kyanjin Ri (4400 m), Langtang Lirung
(7227 m), Tserko Ri (4984 m), Dagpachen Ri (4773 m) and other himalayas. We can
also see the Langtang Lirung glacier (second big glacier of Nepal). After reaching Kyanjin Gompa we can rest and
then explore around the Kyanjin Gompa (monastery). Also we can visit the cheese
factory that was started in
1955 by the Swiss Association for Cooperation with Nepal. Produces about 7,000
Ks. of cheese annually. Stay overnight in lodge.
This day we can wake up early and hike to
Tserko Ri (4984 m) from where we can see the breathtaking views of Himalayas
like Yala peak (5520 m), Langtang Lirung (7227 m), Langtang Ri (7205 m), Loenpo
Gang (6907 m), Dorje Lakpa (6996 m), Changbu (6251 m), Morimoto (6150 m) and
other Himalayas. Also on the way to Tserko Ri we can see the beautiful view of
Kyanjin Gompa and Ganja La pass. On the way if we are lukcy then we can see
blue ship and Thar. Usually it takes around 6 /7 hours to hike and come back to
Kyanjin Gompa from Tserko Ri.
This day if we do not want to go Tserko Ri,
then we can hike to Kyanjin Ri (4400 m) which takes about 2 hours. The ascent
is short as well as easy than Tserko Ri. From the top of Kyanjin Ri we can see
the beautiful views of Himalayas like: Langtang Lirung (7227 m), Langtang Ri
(7205 m), Loenpo Gang (6907 m), Dorje Lakpa (6996 m), Changbu (6251 m),
Morimoto (6150 m) and other Himalayas. We can see the 360 degree view of
mountains as well as glacier and beautiful Kyanjin valley. After reaching top
we stay for some time, take pictures and then return back to Kyanjin Gompa
which takes about 1 hour. Stay overnight in lodge.
After breakfast we descend towards the Lama
Hotel through the same way which takes about 6/7 hours. We have chances of
seeing the wild animals along the way. There are about 250 species of birds
available in Langtang. We can see different species of birds while walking on
the way to jungle. Stay overnight in lodge
After breakfast we head towards the village
of Tamang people (one of the ethnic group of Nepal), Thulo Syabru. After
descending till Pahiro for about ¾ hours and ascending 2 hours we reach Thulo
Syabru. We can see the wild animals in lush tropical vegetation with dominant
low oak on the bank of the river as well as enjoy walking in the pine forest.

After breakfast we return back via private
vehicle to Kathmandu which takes about 5/ 6 hours. After arrival in Kathmandu
we can relax and stay in hotel. Stay overnight in hotel.
We will do the sightseeing in Bhaktapur Durbar Square and
Changunarayan which are listed in UNESCO World heritage site and then head
towards the beautiful place nearby the valley, Nagarkot. We can see the
beautiful view of sunset and sunrise from Nagarkot. Stay overnight at hotel.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square: Bhaktapur Durbar Square is one of the most
charming Architectural showpieces of the valley as it highlights the ancient
arts of Nepal. The Square contains innumerable temples and other architectural
showpieces like the Lion Gate, the statue of King Bhupatindra Malla, the
Picture Gallery, the Golden Gate, the palaces of 55 windows, the Batsala temple
and the bell of barking dog etc.
Changunarayan: The
temple of Changunarayan is richly decorated with sculptures and carvings and is
said to be the oldest pagoda style temple in the valley. The temple, built
around the 3rd century, is decorated by some of the best samples of
stone, wood and metal craft in the valley. The courtyard has many other temples
such as that of Kiloswar Shiva, Chhinnmasta Devi and other figures like Garuda,
Vishnu and other deities.
Nagarkot (2175 m): It is one of the
most popular mountain resort destinations in the Kathmandu Valley rim. Located
32 km east of Kathmandu, Nagarkot is a magnificent place to spend the night and
awaken to view the sun rising across the wide Himalayan range of Langtang,
Gaurisanker and Everest range. It is also the starting point of the valley rim
trek for those who are in Nepal for short stay.
We will visit the world heritage site, Patan Durbar Square
and other traditional places like: Khokhana, Bungmati and Kirtipur. We can see
the old houses, monuments as well the lifestyle of people living there who are
mostly Newar communities. Stay overnight at hotel.
Patan Durbar Square: (World
Heritage Site): Patan Durbar Square boasts of many famous sites and unique
architectures. The major attractions of Patan Durbar Square are the stone
temple of Lord Krishna, the Royal Bath with many carvings on stone, Viswanath
temple and temple of Bhimsen with a magnificent golden balcony overlooking the
square. Many more temple dedicated to Ganesh, the elephant-headed god, Shiva,
Narsingh, Taleju and other are situated in the Patan Durbar Square.
Khokana and Bungmati: These are the typical
Newari (local ethnic group of Kathmandu valley) village where you can see the
wood carvings, traditional framing, very old temples and Newari culture and so
on.
Kirtipur: It is small town situated at top of hill.
Tribhuwan University, Nepal’s premier seat of education, is located at the
foothills of Kirtipur. This historic town has many attractions to offer like
old shrines and temples and old houses. Some of the folks are typically dressed
in traditional costumes and can be spotted working on looms.
